Work values
My key values that I look to fit with new workplaces and roles

Be yourself
Stick to your values and beliefs, don't let anyone try to change who you are to fit into a work environment.

Improve everyday
Make small changes and improvements in all aspects of life.

Determination
We learn more from our failiures and should not be discouraged if something didn't work or turnout as expected. We learn and try again.

Challenge Yourself
Go beyond your comfort zone to find your limits. Embracing these challenges to develop knowledge and skills.

Balance / relax
It's important to take time for ourselves everyday. To do something we enjoy and switch off.

More about me:
By profession, I am a trained accountant and a member of the ACCA. I have 20 years' experience within the Finance Department, across a number of different business sectors. I started at the very beginning doing sub-ledger roles, accounts receivable and accounts payable. I worked my way up through the Finance Department and have spent a number of years in senior finance leadership roles. To find out more, please go to my professional page (currently in development).
I have a keen interest in fitness and general health and well-being, both physical and mental. I have a condition known as Ice Syndrome, which is very rare eye condition and I'm blind in one eye.
I go to great lengths to maintain the health of my one good eye. Due to leading a sedentary work life, I find that mobility and general overall fitness are very important, even when you have an desk-based job.

Applying fitness in the Office
What?... I need fitness to sit at a desk??
Yes, to a fashion, you may not need a high cardio fitness level but...
Strength and conditioning is important as we get older, more so if we spend all day sat a desk or being sedentary, the years have a cumulative effect.
It's important to take regular breaks and work on mobility to be able to help our bodies function as they should. The earlier we start the more we'll be able to enjoy those years of retirement - whenever they may start.
Important areas to focus on are:
- Shoulders / Neck
- Hips/Glutes
- General mobility
Other areas that can then help our performance at work
- Mindset & psycology
